What’s New?
We’ve excited to introduce an improvement to how abandoned carts work in Ecommerce Stores. Previously, abandoned carts could only be recovered if customers returned using the same device or session. With this enhancement, abandoned cart links are now fully sharable and accessible across devices.
Customers can now retrieve their abandoned carts using a unique link that works on any device—even if they’ve switched browsers, devices, or sessions. This creates a smoother, more reliable cart recovery experience, improving overall conversion rates.
How to Use It?
- A unique checkout linkis automatically generated when a customer abandons their cart.
- If the Abandoned Cart Emailis enabled underPayments > Settings > Notifications, customers will receive this link via email.
- Customers can open this link from any device and complete their purchase with:
- The latest product names, pricing, and inventory status.
- Clear indicators for any out-of-stock or deleted items, along with appropriate action buttons.
Rules and Edge Cases
- One Link Per Abandoned Cart:Each URL is unique and represents a specific abandoned session. Only the products from that session will be shown.
- Inventory Updates:
- If a product is out of stock, it shows as “Out of Stock” with a Remove Item CTA.
- If all products are deleted or unavailable, users will see a Continue Shopping CTA instead.
- Dynamic Pricing Support:Price and name changes post-abandonment are reflected in the checkout.
- No Edit Option:Users cannot modify the cart (e.g., add new items) from the abandoned cart checkout link.
- Guest Checkout Support:For guest users, a temporary session is created to show the abandoned cart.
